The Portland Bridge Book is better than it ever has been - Impressive and amazing - and a bargain at the price. (Paperback $24.95.)

This is a very thorough and detailed book about the many bridges of Portland Oregon from Oregon City to the Sauvie Island Bridge. Full of detailed illustrations and photographs - truly a labor of love. It is written by Sharon Wood Wortman - (the Portland Bridge Lady and Urban Adventures Tour Guide) - and her husband Ed Wortman - (Bridge Engineer) with love and respect for bridges, and especially Portland Bridges. I imagine they have walked over (and in) every inch of each one to produce such a book.

The photographs, include a large number of historic photos from ODOT, Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) and the National Park Service includes my favorite of the St Johns bridge taken from the underside making it clear why that area underneath is called Cathedral Park.

You will learn about Portland bridges and about bridges in general. I cannot imagine if there were anything else you would want to know ? if you don?t already know it -Portland is a city of bridges.
