I really wanted to love this book. I won't say that I hated it, not at all, it just didn't excite me as much as the premise of the book did.
Sadly, this book doesn't live up to the idea of a survival guide for a world being taken over by zombies.
It really surprised me that I didn't enjoy it more -- I think I'm a target audience for it. As a fan of horror novels, zombie movies, dark humor, and characters with the will and knowledge to survive against all odds, I couldn't wait to buy and read it.
Unfortunately, in the end, I was surprised to find this book a little on the dull side. Despite chapters on the tools to defend and protect yourself and how to use them when confronted by zombies, and perhaps more importantly, how to escape from them, it's not as exciting a book as it could be.
Even more surprising, I didn't find it to be humorous, even though it's labeled as humor and found in that section of most bookstores.
My recommendation? If you're looking for a combination of horror, action, and touches of humor, read the novel that followed this guide -- "World War Z" by Max Brooks.
