Patrick Glendon Mccullough You are reporting the following comment: AshleyScott83, November 9, 2007 A bookstore employee recommended this to me, which I usually take as pretty high praise, and I was not disappointed. Son of the Ripper!, set in an uptight Massachusetts town in the 1920s has a very old-fashioned sensibility. It's highly mannered, and incredibly charming. Sure, the mystery is engaging, and there were more than a handful of laugh-out-loud moments, but the overall tone is just so rosy and pleasant, none of that seems to matter. When everything is neatly wrapped up in the final pages, I turned each page with a sinking sense of dread that it was about to be over, and I was left hoping for this to become a series.
