"The Cobweb Christmas" is a Christmas Eve tradition in my house. This is the endearing story of Tante, a little, old woman who lives an uneventful life, save taking care of her animals (she has no children). Her favorite holiday is Christmas and she waits all year to begin the celebration preparations, convinced that St. Nick will reward her efforts with a Christmas Miracle. Tante shares Christmas with everyone--everyone except the spiders, that is! This year, the sneaky spiders find a crack in the door and, because they've never gotten the opportunity to share in Christmas, they sneak in and destroy Tante's beautiful tree by weaving spiderwebs everywhere.

This is a touching story that explains the origin of modern-day tinsel.
