Epictetus, who was crippled as a slave before gaining his freedom went on to write a text that can help the reader understand what is within their control and what is not. With this understanding then the reader can take action where it is called for and not even waste thought in those things beyond one's own control. Ancient but timeless. I did so enjoy it not only have I read it multiple times, I have given more than a dozen copies of this text away as gifts to readers of all ages (teens to seniors). Given the short thought-by-thought format of the text it is very digestible and reader friendly. It can be left to sit on a table or night stand and picked up at random to add a wealth of insight to any day.
