Dear Diary by Lesley Arfin
Dear Diary

Martin, June 10, 2007

In Dear Diary, Arfin attacks her teenage diaries with intense scrutiny and self reflection. She's her own ex-heroin addict older sister, and if that weren't enough, she dutifully hunts down her old friends and enemies for a fresh perspective on her own life. Examining the series of events that led to her spiralling heroin addiction and unlikely recovery, she pulls no punches on her younger selves. Although I never was a heroin addict, much of this book resonated with my own experiences with the drama of being young and self absorbed.

X-Men: Deadly Genesis Premiere Hc by Ed Brubaker
X-Men: Deadly Genesis Premiere Hc

Martin, August 1, 2006

It's a giant retcon! This is the most disappointing superhero work I've yet seen from Ed Brubaker. New characters that are ludicrously uninvolving and dumb-looking to boot. Only Darwin shows potential. Nothing interesting happened and the revision doesn't work for me. Pass. Check out Brubaker's work on Captain America and Daredevil instead.

The Coming Economic Collapse: How You Can Thrive When Oil Costs $200 a Barrel by Stephen Leeb
The Coming Economic Collapse: How You Can Thrive When Oil Costs $200 a Barrel

Martin, April 4, 2006

One of those "articulates everything you have been thinking about but never realized you made such sense until someone came along and wrote it down for you in a way that does" books. An empowering book for those who think for themselves and are not easily fooled.

It puts the war, oil, wall street, the govenment and the American Pysche all on the line. No one wants to hear it though.

I was transfixed for a few days with this book to the point that even last friday night I read it at a very noisy and busy local pub at the bar for two hours without looking up such was my attention.

Will I sell my Motorcycle, pull a chunk out out of my 401k and do what this guys says. Quite possibly.
