The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life

A fascinating look at the Oracle of Omaha. Beginning with his childhood, the complex relationship with his parents and his early start as a businessman, then through the incredible growth of Berkshire with all it's up and downs along the way. A good read for anyone interested in Warren Buffett.

Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power

A very important book. Even more so with all the war talk coming out of North Korea these days.
It makes me think and look differently at the current events.

Finding Life in the Land of Alzheimer's: One Daughter's Hopeful Story by Lauren Kessler
Finding Life in the Land of Alzheimer's: One Daughter's Hopeful Story

3Kcats, August 5, 2012

My Mom had Alzheimer's. It took me 7 months after my Mom died to be able to read this book, but I'm certainly glad that I did.
It confirmed much of my experience with Mom in her Alzheimer's/Dementia specific assisted living. There are caregivers that are wonderful, caring individuals who come in on their day off when your loved one is nearing the end. It's a hard job being a caregiver. You are underpaid and much is demanded of you. It's not a job for everyone, but those that do it well are key to making the experience families go through a little more bearable. Also, I never felt that Alzheimer's took away the essence of my Mom. She was still there just in a different way than I was used to for the majority of my life. I recommend this book.
