Louie Banks of Trout, Idaho is a senior at Trout High School and is having a good life. He has the football position he wanted and a girl everyone dreams of having, Becky Sanders. There is only one problem, that is all about to change. He is about to experience the worst relationship ending ever and the worst sport decision made about him by the principle, Anthony Jasper. Anthony will make this decision on Louies’ actions at the game couch Lednecky said they would take out the opponents’ star player, a black kid named Washington. Louie will need to find a way to occupy his time and prevent himself from going over the edge. That is all I am going to say so go and read the book! Running Loose is a great book for anyone going through hard times or just trying to get through high school. Personally, I loved it. There is so much description and emotion that I couldn’t put it down. I believe you will feel the same. Chris Crutcher must have an excellent mind to write this book. There is so much detail as to how Louie does stuff like breaking a plaque out of the ground. When he chucks that plaque into the river, it says that Louie could almost hear Becky laughing. You need to read it to understand exactly what was going through Louies’ mind in that little space of time. This book is meant to be read by teenagers. Anyone who is having problems with sports or relationships should definitely read this book. This book seems like it was meant to help solve problems for people just like Louie.
