I first read this when I was 8 years old and loved it. I lost my copy while traveling and made everyone in my family look for it in every bookstore until I obtained another copy which I still have forty years later. I was thrilled when J.K. Rowling named it as a favorite childhood book and it was put back into print. I can give it as a gift to young readers in my family again. Elizabeth Goudge has combined elements of fantasy with wonderful characters and the challenge of righting a wrong from the distant past.
