We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves

AbbyRR, August 20, 2014

A good, smart book that's about more than experimenting with animals. There's great humor here along with some haunting scenes. Great character development. What appears to be just another quirky family comes to life in this novel, revealing some intriguing complexities.

I finally succumbed and started this series. The characters are great. I especially love Tyrion. I can't wait to read more. Keep writing Mr. Martin.

Shut Up, I'm Talking: And Other Diplomacy Lessons I Learned in the Israeli Government: A Memoir by Gregory Levey
Shut Up, I'm Talking: And Other Diplomacy Lessons I Learned in the Israeli Government: A Memoir

AbbyRR, March 23, 2012

How does one make the conflict in the Middle East...funny? This was my initial reaction upon reading about the book. Then I read it, and Levey does just that. While Levey clearly illustrates the horrors of the conflict, he also shows the very bizarre side of Israeli politics. It's like Abbott and Costello meet Kafka. Worth a read.

I happened to find this book by accident and fell in love with it. Imaginative, fantastical, and well written.
