Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass

Well, i think the majority of you know the story Alice in Wonderland, and for those of you who dont know, well you didnt have much of a chilhood. Anyways i would just like to say that this is probably my favourite fairytale, and the movie is my favourite disney movie. I also think the fact that Alice does drugs (you can argue against this, but most find it obvious what the story's about) is pretty cool, but if you've ever heard the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane or read the lyrics, you would know that parents shouldnt be surprised or wonder why their kids grow up to use drugs when you feed their heads with stories like Alice in Wonderland.
-"One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small. And the ones that mother gives you, dont do anything at all. Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall." (White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane)

Fahrenheit 451: The Temperature at Which Book Paper Catches Fire, and Burns by Ray Bradbury
Fahrenheit 451: The Temperature at Which Book Paper Catches Fire, and Burns

Ok it really wasnt my choice to just pick up this book and start reading, but i have to admit it wasnt bad. We read it in my English 10A class and at the begining, i didnt really give this book a chance. But as we got further into the story, i realized that i totally agreed with what the author was trying to get across. Its about how life has become so pointless and we dont even think for oursleves anymore. The only things we stop to pay attention to anymore are the things that amuse us. Nobody stops to ask why or how anymore, they just dont care. Everything has to be fast paced and nobody stops to look around and realize the important problems in society. The interesting part is, this book was written about 50 years ago if not more, its kind of creepy how the author predicted the future.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream by Hunter S Thompson
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream

Seriously, if there was a higher number than 5, id rate this book higher. This story is basically about 2 guys in the early 70's who take a trip through Death Valley to Las Vegas, where they spend most of their time committing capitol fraud by checking into hotel rooms with fake names and trashing them, tripping out on a number of different drugs such as mescaline, acid, cocaine and ether, and suffering from severe paranoia. There really is no story to it, but thats what makes it my favourite book. I highly recommend this book and the movie as well. The movie was made in 1998 and stars Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke, Benicio Del Toro as Dr. Gonzo, and camoes include, Gary Busey, Christina Ricci, and Cameron Diaz.....Trippy movie and kick ass soundtrack!

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
The Outsiders

This book is about a boy in his mid-teens who lives with his brothers in a bad neighbourhood. Him and his friends get into some trouble with rich kids from the other side of town. They are forced to hide out in the country until things calm down in the city, when tradgedy strikes and his best friend gets put in the hospital for serious injuries and the rich kids come back for revenge.
I remember reading it when i was about 11 years old. I really enjoyed it. It sort of "hit home" because i grew up on "the wrong side of the tracks" literally. I would recommend this book to young teens.
