The Confession by John Grisham
The Confession

Aisling, September 27, 2011

One of Grisham's best (and I'm a big fan of everything he writes). This story about a young man unjustly accused, imprisoned and executed is close to his heart. It's a current take on today's criminal justice system and well worth reading.

The Given Day by Dennis Lehane
The Given Day

Aisling, January 1, 2011

I always enjoy reading Lehane, but thought this was his best book yet. He fascinated me by incorporating so many facets of that changing time period into an excellent novel. This book ties together changes in religious, racial, class, union and political issues and should be put on the required reading list for high school students to help them understand how the country got to where it is today.

The Given Day: A Novel by Dennis Lehane
The Given Day: A Novel

Aisling, January 2, 2010

The Given Day is a marvelous book. I've been a Dennis Lehane fan "forever", but this is his very best. It's historical fiction with a lot of factual data included and it's a period of U.S. history not so very far removed in time.
