What makes this book amazing is the characters. Verona is intriguing, somewhat mysterious and very sympathetic. Livesey gets inside the head of Zach, a young man with Asperger's Syndrome as she objectively describes his observations. As a result, the character Zach is very real and much more than an Asperger's patient. Often, when a novel is told in chapters that alternate between stories, one is substantially more interesting than the other, but the stories were well-matched, and both kept me eagerly reading.
