Stone Fox by John R Gardiner
Stone Fox

Stone Fox is a great entry into chapter books for grades 3 and up. Gardiner tells a relatively complex story in a simple way, but manages to develop suspense. Great for teaching character traits.

No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Korman
No More Dead Dogs

Korman writes with a contemporary voice that really connected with my middle-school students. With relatively short chapters and witty wordwork, it also makes a great read aloud for grades five and up.

Case for Bureaucracy : a Public Administration Polemic (4TH 04 - Old Edition) by Charles Goodsell
Case for Bureaucracy : a Public Administration Polemic (4TH 04 - Old Edition)

Goodsell's defense of the bureaucratic system is well-balanced and realistic. It's a real self-esteem booster for anyone in the public sector.
