The Ascent of Rum Doodle (Vintage Classics) by W. E. Bowman
The Ascent of Rum Doodle (Vintage Classics)

Andrea Bach, September 12, 2011

This book is a masterpiece. I've read it five times over, and have passed several copies on to friends. Years after reading it I recall one passage or another and have a little chuckle just thinking about it. The characters are so well constructed, I feel as though if I met one of them while climbing some mythical mountain I would recognize them immediately!

This is snicker smugly to yourself funny, laugh out loud funny, snortle in public funny, and break out in spontaneous laughter months after reading it funny.

I can't get the vision of the sherpas for the sherpas who are carrying provisions for the sherpas out of my head.

Killing Pablo: The Hunt for the World's Greatest Outlaw by Mark Bowden
Killing Pablo: The Hunt for the World's Greatest Outlaw

Andrea Bach, August 2, 2007

Mark Bowden retells this story with the perfect amount of detail. The story is intriguing, and even though I am old enough to remember this, I realize that I knew very little about Pablo Escobar and our involvement in trying to capture him.

Pork and Sons by Stephane Reynaud
Pork and Sons

Andrea Bach, May 8, 2007

This book makes me want to move to France and be a pig farmer. The pictures are rich and have a subtle humor to them and the recipes are devine!

The little sketches of piggies within are a nice bonus as well.
