Riding Rockets: The Outrageous Tales of a Space Shuttle Astronaut by Mike Mullane
Riding Rockets: The Outrageous Tales of a Space Shuttle Astronaut

Anna Stead, September 19, 2011

This is book was very funny and very graphic, even sort of gross at times. I learned a lot about the life of an astronaut. More than anything Mullane is the kind of writer that just likes to tell dirty jokes. This would be a good book to read on vacation. It's easy reading and you can get through it in a few days. I liked it because it's not very emotional. Mullane does discuss some tragic events and also goes through almost his entire life with an only mild melancholy tone at times. For the most part this is lighthearted, interesting, and different. I recommend it if you've got free time.

Blinking With Fists by Billy Corgan
Blinking With Fists

Anna Stead, September 15, 2011

If you love Billy Corgan, then you will love this! Buy this. It is filled with the most poignant, descriptive, heartfelt poetry, straight from the Master himself! No one can describe love, or loss, or the urging of a heart the way Corgan can. Beautiful imagery of course. This is pretty deep, long poems, not something you can read it a short time. The poems draw you in and allow you to experience the emotion inside- I loved it, and you will too. This book is wonderfully written! Enjoy!

Madame Bovary (Vintage Classics) by Gustave Flaubert
Madame Bovary (Vintage Classics)

Anna Stead, September 12, 2011

I didn't think I would like this book and I actually really did! I can see why people are still reading it after all these years. Madame was just like me in many ways so I really identified with her. I liked reading about all of her lovers and manipulations and secrets. She got into much of the same kinds of trouble that people do today. I liked the characters and thought they were very realistic. Flaubert is the kind of writer that can paint a picture, or a scene, and you can visualize it perfectly. The book was kind of sad at the end, but I really liked how melodramatic the Madame was and I thought it was fitting. I read this just for fun and it really was just that! I recommend it and it reads very quickly.

The Shack by Wm. Paul Young
The Shack

Anna Stead, September 11, 2011

I didn't not like this book. I am a fan of religious and spiritual books and anything that strengthens my faith, or shows the grace of God, but I didn't even finish this one. Maybe if I had I would have found it to be as amazing as everyone said it was, but, to me it was too childish to go on. I didn't like the story and I thought the characters were corny and underdeveloped. I would not suggest this book. I got about 3/4 way through and maybe I'll go back and finish it and who knows, maybe even change this review, but the first time around I found this to be an unbearable read.
