Harlequin Presents #2935: The Greek's Pregnant Lover by Lucy Monroe
Harlequin Presents #2935: The Greek's Pregnant Lover

Annmarie, July 24, 2010

From the back cover:

Self-made billionaire Zephyr Nikos has come a long way from the streets of Athens, but his heart is stone-cold--like marble. He can't offer Piper Madison his love; instead he offers her his world--fine dining, private jet, rubbing shoulders with the rich and powerful....

As their desire heats up and finally reaches boiling point, Zephyr and Piper must end their affair before one of them gets hurt. There's just one small complication...Piper's pregnancy test just came back positive!

The Greek's Pregnant Lover is the sequel to The Shy Bride.

I absolutely adored The Shy Bride and have re-read it several times. The Greek's Pregnant Lover is an awesome follow up. While The Shy Bride felt more tender and had a wonderfully natural progression, The Greek's Pregnant Lover is classic Harlequin Presents. It has one very important distinction from others in this genre, however. The hero and heroine actually communicate. I KNOW!

It is so incredibly refreshing to have two contemporary romances within a series that have originality within the genre. Sure, in real life romance often builds over time and couples communicate openly. In. Real. Life. In Harlequin Presents? Not so much.

Often series romances run together in my mind and I have a difficult time recollecting the titles, characters and which plot goes with which character. Not so with The Shy Bride and The Greek's Pregnant Lover. I'll remember these two books and how they touched my heart with their genuineness.

I give high praise to Lucy Monroe for daring to be different. Don't miss either of these books. Seriously!

The Missing (Berkley Sensation) by Shiloh Walker
The Missing (Berkley Sensation)

Annmarie, July 1, 2010

I read The Missing when it first came out. I bought it in TRADE SIZE because I am a fan of Shiloh Walker’s writing and would NOT wait one minute more to get my greedy little hands on this book!

The Missing did NOT disappoint!

Chock full of suspense and emotion The Missing grabbed my heart and took it on a roller coaster ride. The kind with big drops and lots of loops.

While there is a paranormal element in this book (and it is a huge part of the story), for me, the part that touched me the most and has lasted with me over time was the love expressed by Taige and Cullen.

Taige and Cullen’s teenage love filled my soul with pleasure. I soaked it up like sunshine. In truth, I wanted it to last forever but knew that lasting forever doesn’t always come without bumps in the road. Or boulders.

The utter sorrow of losing Cullen’s mother for both Cullen and Taige brought me to tears. I had to stop reading and just let the sorrow out. Not all readers will respond like I did. I wouldn’t expect them to. I cannot imagine, however, that any reader could remain unmoved by the emotion these characters express.

Luckily for Shiloh Walker, she didn’t leave my heart broken into a million pieces. Not that Walker is afraid of my wrath because typically she laughs in the face of my wrath. Despite her disregard for my fury, Walker did right by Taige and Cullen. Shiloh Walker gave Taige and Cullen the opportunity to work through their past and toward a happily ever after.

If you enjoy suspense, paranormal (psychic elements) and soul deep romance, don’t miss THE MISSING by Shiloh Walker.

Skin Tight (Berkley Sensation) by Ava Gray
Skin Tight (Berkley Sensation)

Annmarie, June 1, 2010

There is a book series that I am absolutely MAD for! I'm serious. I am crazy mad in love with this series. Ava Gray aka Ann Aguirre is the author of the SKIN SERIES.

Poor Ava/Ann. I stalk her on Twitter begging for more of this series. Waiting is SO hard! Skin Game is the first and Skin Tight is the second book in the SKIN SERIES. Write that down.

From the SKIN TIGHT back cover:

Uncovering the truth is her specialty

As a forensic accountant, Mia Sauter could usually tell when people had something to hide. She made her living exposing secrets while concealing her own. Then, in Vegas, she met a clever, ruthless man who called himself Addison Foster. One year later, she's still haunted by his betrayal.

He's a natural born liar

The truth of him had long ago been buried. Foster was only one name of many; he'd been so many men, he'd lost count. Reinvented as Thomas Strong and hell-bent on revenge, his mission is about to be compromised by the one woman capable of exposing him.

Reunited, they confront the explosive chemistry still crackling between them. But their chance meeting will have consequences, for a ruthless madman has his own deadly agenda. The question is-if they survive the fallout, will he choose love over vengeance?

I fell in love with Thomas Strong when I knew him as Addison Foster. In fact, I fell in love with him at first read. Ok. Fine. I fell in LUST with him at first read. When I read SKIN TIGHT, that lust turned to love. I adore Thomas Strong. Like. ADORE him. I want his babies.

Mia is pretty darn awesome. I don't hate her. And I totally could. TOTALLY. I mean, she gets to be the HEROINE. (I'm never the heroine. Always the secondary character, never the heroine.)

The suspense is heart pounding. There are several points in the story where I cried. (I don't cry much over fiction. Humane Society tv ads? Yes. Fiction? Not as much.) Also, Ava Gray/Ann Aguirre writes the creepiest antagonists. In SKIN TIGHT, the antagonist made my skin crawl. Awesome, right?

I found SKIN TIGHT to be very satisfying on so many levels. I absolutely loved every bit of it! Ava Gray is a phenomenal author. PHE-NOM-EN-AL!
