I recommend the book Crispin Cross Of Lead, a John Newbery Medal winner by Avi to kids anywhere from the ages of ten to fourteen. This book is two hundred and ninety seven pages and I recommend it for people reading in a book group. If you want to learn more about the Middle Ages this is the book for you. It is based in England the year 1377 A.D. This book is about a boy who has lost his Mom and is now trying to find his place in life and figure out who he is. Luckily for him he comes upon a person who goes by the name Bear. Bear starts off as his master but turns into his teacher and friend. To Crispin Bear is like the father he never knew. To Bear, Crispin is a student who can carry on his wisdom through the world. Crispin becomes an open target to kill for anyone who sees him and Bear helps him through this. To find out if Crispin makes it and Bear has a student for life, READ THE BOOK!!
