If I Stay by Gayle Forman
If I Stay

Bert44, January 14, 2011

If I Stay by Gayle Forman tells the heartbreaking tale of Mia whose life is turned upside down in seconds. Mia’s life was perfect before the accident that stole the people she loved the most. She had great parents, good friends, was involved in a fantastic music program and of course had a gorgeous, amazing, sweet boyfriend. In just seconds all of that was gone when a drive in the Oregon snow turns deadly. Mia has to make the hardest decision she will ever have to make. She finds herself thinking, “I realize now that dying is easy. Living is hard,”. If I Stay will keep you on your toes waiting to find what happens next and in my opinion this is an amazing story.

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Bert44, November 30, 2010

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin is a moving book about life, death and acceptance. In my opinion it’s a great book for anyone who likes a sad story but then takes a twist towards the other side. Liz, the main character is taken from the earth at only sixteen. She wakes up on a boat where Liz is told she is going to “Elsewhere” but Liz can’t figure out how she got on the boat and why she is going there. Liz must learn to accept the fact that she is no longer on earth and now on Elsewhere where you go after you have died. You’re sure to love Elsewhere if you love a page turner and a book you can’t put down.
