A great book for learning native plants east of the Cascades. Highly recommended for anyone first starting out in identifying wildflowers of the deserts.
Wow. Thick and full of information, this is not for the weekend morel hunter. This is the most complete single reference for mushrooms in North America, and an essential resource for anyone serious about fungi.
Good beginner's book for learning macrolichens and the only one published with color photos for the northwest. Keys aren't great though and many species are excluded.
Highly recommended for anyone who is interested in learning native plants in the inland Pacific Northwest including Washington, Oregon and Idaho east of the Cascades. It is one of the better books for identifying common plants east of the Cascades including trees, grasses and wildflowers. Photos and plant descriptions are also extremely informative.
This book and Sagebrush Country are the two best beginner books (i.e. no technical keys and have color photographs) for learning plants in the arid interior of the Pacific Northwest.
For the west side of the Cascades this is an excellent book for learning native plants. Good photos, descriptions, and native uses. Other books by Pojar are also good.
