Augusta Locke by William H Henderson
Augusta Locke

Blythe, November 27, 2008

I fell in love with this very strong woman who was created by a man! Augusta Locke stayed in my head long after I was finished reading.

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Water for Elephants

Blythe, November 22, 2008

I am going through severe "book withdrawal" after finishing Sara Gruen's "Water for Elephants."  I'm finding it very difficult to find the proper book to follow up this masterpiece.  I was hooked from the very first page. Thank you, Sara Gruen, for taking me with you on such a fantastic imaginary voyage into the world of the circus.

Where or When (Harvest Book) by Anita Shreve

Blythe, November 10, 2008

Sometimes I love the books of Anita Shreve, and sometimes not so much.  This was a not so much.  "Where or When" just doesn't cut it when compared to gems like "Fortune's Rocks," or "Sea Glass."  I will say that Shreve has a handle on obsessive love, but I couldn't handle all of the obsession.  This story had some parallels to "All He Ever Wanted," which is another book I could have done without.
