The Complete Compost Gardening Guide by Barbara Pleasant and Deborah L. Martin
The Complete Compost Gardening Guide

Bonnie Johnson, April 3, 2009

I'm a garden book junkie. As a kid I spent many an Alaskan winter pouring over every single gardening book I could get my hands on. If only this book had existed then!

This is exactly the kind of composting book I had always looked for and never found, until today!

It's comprehensive, detailed, and entertaining to read. It covers everything including bins, pit composting, vermicomposting, and even growing plants in your compost pile! There are instructions for making your own tumble composter, making your own worm bin, and how to make that banner compost heap for quick composting.

The pictures are fantastic, yet not overwhelming. The author's writing style is fun and informative. I just can't praise this book enough!

The ultimate compost book - hands down!

Some Turtles Have Nice Shells by Roger Beck
Some Turtles Have Nice Shells

Bonnie Johnson, March 25, 2009

Eye-candy for anyone who is interested in housetrucks, retro RV living, treehouses, or living in ultra-small spaces.

Page after page of fantastic pictures of housetrucks all over the US. Great inspiration for building and living in any small space!

If only I could talk my husband into building and living in our very own housetruck..

The Renaissance Soul: Life Design for People with Too Many Passions to Pick Just One by Margaret Lobenstine
The Renaissance Soul: Life Design for People with Too Many Passions to Pick Just One

Bonnie Johnson, March 25, 2009

This book was life-changing for me.

I've spent my entire life torn between dozens of interests and career choices - with teachers and well meaning family members demanding I choose something and stick with it!

Our entire society seems bent on labeling and shoving us into one career for life. People that don't fit into one mold are labeled as lazy, unmotivated, or worse.

This book not only accepts and encourages the Renaissance Soul, but shows you how to work it to your advantage and make the most of your varied interests and skills.

A must-read for anyone who thinks they might be a Renaissance Soul!

Creative Cloth Doll Couture: Making Beautiful Clothing and Accessories for Your Art Dolls by Patti Medaris Culea
Creative Cloth Doll Couture: Making Beautiful Clothing and Accessories for Your Art Dolls

Bonnie Johnson, March 2, 2009

An excellent book for anyone interested in creating soft dolls or outfits for them!

Featuring both how-to instruction and plenty of pictures of finished dolls, this book is sure to snap you out of any case of "artists block".

By far my favorite doll making book.
