Live to Tell: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel by Lisa Gardner
Live to Tell: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel

Books are my passion, January 30, 2013

WOW! What a thrill ride Lisa Gardner provides her readers with this novel! The story was top-notch suspense with layers of relational twists. However, the real surprise for me was learning so much about the immense time, energy and emotional cost parents sacrifice when raising special needs children. The author does an incredible job with her subject matter research, and opened up a new world for me, exposing my unexpected compassion for those parents' plights.

Live to Tell: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel by Lisa Gardner
Live to Tell: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel

Books are my passion, August 30, 2012

WOW! What a thrill ride Lisa Gardner delivers! Twists and turns, and good-old fashioned suspense every step of the way. The story is told from the main characters' perspectives, giving insight from very different viewpoints. Although this is fiction, the non-fiction subject matter about children in locked-down pediatric psych wards is extremely well-researched. The reader learns about the huge amount of time, energy and sacrifice that many parents and pediatric professionals experience helping these children. The book both educates and entertains you on a non-stop ride!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Vintage) by Stieg Larsson
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Vintage)

Books are my passion, January 11, 2012

This book was a most unexpected surprise read! I did not read it when it first came out because I thought the subject matter was not really my cup of tea. After some time, I finally gave in to curiosity because everyone was talking about it and asking if I had read it. I picked it up thinking I would give it a few chapters and if it didn't grab me, then I was prepared to quickly drop it and move on -- at least then I could say I gave it a try and shed my guilt. I was hooked from the first pages and thoroughly enjoyed the entire journey. It was my summer read and quite a treat. I enjoyed meeting all the characters and visiting locations that were new to me. This book had all the elements I consider for a great book -- a real 'page turner'. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately followed it with both the second and third books in the trilogy. That says something because I never do that!
