Follow Your True Colors to the Work You Love: The Popular Method for Matching Your Personality to Your Career
Follow Your True Colors to the Work You Love: The Popular Method for Matching Your Personality to Your Career

Carol Klavon, July 17, 2008

I first read this book when I made an appointment at my college career center. The questions and the cards were fun, as well as very revealing. I wish I had done this years ago.

MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers 6th Edition by Mla
MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers 6th Edition

Carol Klavon, July 17, 2008

I used this book in a research paper I did for an English class at the local community college. MLA stands for Modern Language Association and refers to the style in which the research paper itself is written (line spacing, indenting, etc.), but especially the method in which sources are cited. My english teacher has this edition of the MLA handbook for his own reference, and that is good enough for me.

Harper Collins Study Bible (93 - Old Edition) by Bible
Harper Collins Study Bible (93 - Old Edition)

Carol Klavon, July 16, 2008

The physical bulk can be downright intimidating for the biblical scholar on the go, but it is well worth the extra effort of lugging around. Footnotes and endnotes give extensive historical commentary on various passages, discussing linguistic roots, geography, as well as the politics that helped to color the passages. Including the apocryphal as well as canonical books of the Bible, it is, to me, one of the most extensive bible study texts available.

Asma'ul-Husna: The 99 Beautiful Names of Allah
Asma'ul-Husna: The 99 Beautiful Names of Allah

Carol Klavon, July 13, 2008

This seemingly simple guide to meditating on the 99 beautiful names of Allah is an amazing read, whether you were born and raised Muslim, or looking into Islam for the first time. Each name is shown in large, clearly readable print, along with its Arabic counterpart, and the most basic interpretation of each "name." This book however, the "author" clearly states, is no more than a guidepost, meant to nudge the reader to delve into each of the names more intimantely. It's deceptively small size and light weight make for excellent portability, but the true spiritual content is anybut but small.
