Swami Radha describes her experiences with gurus and teachers from different traditions, giving pride of place to her guru, Swami Sivananda. She also has practical advice for the seeker in regards to finding the right guru and how to avoid the charlatans and phonies who style themselves gurus.
I teach dreamwork, and this is one of the best books I have ever found about dreaming and dreamwork. Swami Radha has a vast knowledge of dreamwork and she shows you how to use your dreams as a method of spiritual practice. I recommend this book to my dreamwork students and I do so to you as well.
This book could be called a textbook for kundalini yoga. It's clearly written, with good illustrations and instructions about this tradition. A must have for those interested in Hinduism, chakras and practices. And it's not in the least sensationalist.
As someone who lived where this book is set and was there during the time the book describes I can say with confidence that Michael Chabon took Pittsburgh dross and made it into pure literary gold. Thanks, Michael, for doing something so wonderful with my hometown. It took the right author to see the artistic potential in Pittsburgh and himself. Bravo!
Oy vei! A parallel imaginary universe with real people in it, a detective story, blinzes and Tlingits and exile. Love this book and have read it so many times that the covers are all bent.
