Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found by Suketu Mehta
Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found

Cornwich, January 2, 2010

This is the best-written and most intriguing work of non-fiction I've ever read.

"Bombay is the future of urban civilization on the planet. God help us."
- from the first paragraph of the book.

A brave, lucid, and intelligent Suketu Mehta offers a privileged insider's look into modern day Mumbai. He hangs out with rival Muslim & Hindu gang overlords, cops, bar dancers, and moviemakers, in the upper echelons of society and in the open-sewered streets.

Pairs nicely with Aravind Adiga's White Tiger.

I can't recommend it enough.
