This is a book that all young black men need to read about. This is a book that young black men can relate to regardless of where they grew up. Especially how society has played out today, black children need books that they can relate to and be able to place themselves in the place of the characters in this book. There should be some form of self realization seen through this book. Lonnie Jackson is a young man from Harlem. Basketball is a big part of his life as a lot of our youth, and he always stands up for what he believes in. During this book the main character is forced to grow up and learn to act more like a man than a kid due to the fact that he was left behind by his father. He also does not know his mother. We all can learn some valuable lessons from Lonnie in this book to apply them to our everyday lives.
