...originally this book, distributed by Time/Life, was bound in Buffalo, NY; where I live. I was looking for a book of short stories that were compelling and succinct. And, filled with mouth opening awe and guttural laughs. BINGO; this is it ! His stories, while likened to Saki, etc., are all his own. One can see why his quirky and compact style was perfect for post WWII TV shows like 'Alfred Hitchcock presents' and the 'Twilight Zone.'
Collier was once quoted describing himself, tongue in cheek, as,
"...a third rate writer; trying to pass himself off as a second rate one !"
So, if you are looking for something to take with you to the beach or bed; you won't be disappointed with this choice.
