The author travels to 10 different countries exploring why residents are happy or unhappy in those places. Rather than looking at happiness person by person, he looks at different cultures and how they define happiness. It should not be surprising that happiness reflects both the diversity and universality of human culture. But it is surprising, thought provoking, and illuminating of humanity. Also, this book is funny - it is written like a good travelogue and demands to be reread.
