My heart is ravaged...by sadness and tenderness at the same time. I am blown away completely! This story is told by Sheila, the sister of Father Art - a priest accused of molesting a young boy. Please don't be fooled into thinking this is a predictable story! As the tale unfolds, there are MANY revelations that come to light that will surprise, delight, and dismay you. All the pieces do not fall into place until the very end and OH WHAT AN END!! The characters are so varied and real. Each one tells a story within the story. Just when you think you have them figured out, they surprise you. Actual tears fell from my eyes! I have not read such a good book in a long, long time.
I read this book in one sitting! This is the story of a crumbling marriage that highlights the consequences of what is said and what is NOT said between this couple. Robert Olen Butler truly captures the failings of each person and how situations can turn with the simple words that are spoken.
So funny I was laughing out loud! Highly relatable, most of these things have happened to you or you know exactly what he is talking about. The ending is more serious but very good. Serial numbers on chairs - hilarious! A great pick-me-up book!

Such a great story that I read this 800 page book twice in the same year. I love the characters Wally Lamb creates. They stay with me. Pity the book I try to read next.
