Vanishing Seattle (Images of America) by Clark Humphrey
Vanishing Seattle (Images of America)

Ed Anderson, December 24, 2006

This is a great two hour read, exposing newcomers to Seattle to its history, including ancient (pre-WWI) and especially recent (within yuppie recall). Yup we all went to Ivars, Dags, and later (when we had money) Thirteen Coins for those late night munchies. Sobering to realize that the Kingdome and The Wild Rainiers are now historic (defunct). No where else are you going to see gogo dancers in the underground Vault nightclub?
If your idea of history is spending less than a quarter on a burger or drinking at a Golden Tides toga party, and you can't find those embarassing polaroids that you took of Ruthie backstage at the Rainbow, this picture book brings back the memories.
