The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt
The Sisters Brothers

Emily Dawson, January 3, 2012

I was so drawn to the cover art I couldn't help pick it up, just hoping the writing would be as good. I've since bought copies to distribute and have recommended it many times. The book takes place back in the gold country days, and has a classic western structure but a modernist feel. It is fairly minimalist but with vivid, powerful imagery and original, distinct characters. One of the best books of the year!
