Twain's Feast: Searching for America's Lost Foods in the Footsteps of Samuel Clemens by Andrew Beahrs
Twain's Feast: Searching for America's Lost Foods in the Footsteps of Samuel Clemens

Erin Conlisk, August 25, 2010

This book has become my go-to gift for friends and family. I read a lot of non-fiction and this is, by far, the best book I have read in a long time. Twain's Feast keeps you engaged with remarkably high ratios of humor:word and information:word - a credit to Andrew Beahrs's research, wit, and masterful prose.

The book is a first person account of an exploration into Mark Twain's favorite American foods. Interspersed with short historical recipes, you will learn about Twain, regional history, and the ecology of local foods.
