How to describe this book is an interesting question. You could almost ask what Time Masters isn't and the answer would be- Nothing!!! It has every genre, all the elements of a good story, and a superb quality of writing rolled into one. Dallan is not only a hunk, he's also got the Romance factor going on, if he didn't belong to Shona and was for real - I'd definitely be interested. This is some of the best writing I've seen out there and mind you I read voraciously. The plot has been excellently crafted and the characters come to life on the page as well as in the reader's imagination even after putting the book down. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll even be frightened at times. If you like rollercoasters - hop on. The story goes from a "comedy sketch" due to characters being out of their accustomed environment on one page to fight scenes with action, adventure and suspense on the next. The emotional fluctuations come at you often and fast in this book but that is part of what makes Time Masters so riveting. It will keep you up all night just to find out what happens on the next page, in the next chapter or even how the book ends. I have yet to find another author who can evoke such intense responses with the written word. This is one book worth owning and rereading many times. Geralyn puts so much into the story that you find new details and thoughts popping up every time you read it. I quit counting my "reads" for this book before it was even released and can't wait to get my own copy to read it yet again. I am certainly planning on adding it to my library as well as any sequels she writes. I am already chomping at the bit for Time Masters Book Two: The Prophecy which is scheduled to release Fall 2008. In the meantime be sure to look for this new release from Cold Tree Press. You just might find a new author to add to your favorites list. I can assure you I did.

This book is a candid glimpse into the private life of someone who has lived much of their life in the public eye. When I know a celebrity for their talents, rarely do I also know or see them as a real person. In this book Amy Grant succeeds masterfully at integrating her public and private persona for those who have only known her through her celebrity status. She not only evidences her deep and abiding faith throughout these pages, she also acknowledges that all of our lives are affected by detours we have taken as a result of some of our choices. The lyrics and poetry as well as her prose evoke a variety of emotions in the reader. Her descriptive language brings the people, places and experiences of each event to life in the readers' mind.
I could see and hear the waves, imagine the shattered shells along the shore, and feel the sand on my feet as if I were there myself when she is talking about trips to the Florida shore.
For any fan of Amy Grant's and even those who have no idea who she is, this is a genuine portrayal of realities in life that do not discriminate. She willingly opens the door on her experiences in a way that many people will be able to relate to. There are lessons to learn in observing others' circumstances. This book is a wonderful example of sharing personal lessons in life and faith to help others along in their circumstances and walk of faith. Hearing others' perspectives also encourages me to recognize and cherish the blessings that God has provided to me.
While this is more an anthology than a single narrative, I couldn't put it down and finished reading only to wish there was still more left for me to read.

This book was riveting. The story drew me in from the first page and I didn't want to put it down. Ms. Lee's descriptions brought the characters, setting and events to life. However, I was disappointed with the ending. The crux of the plot and resolution of the key conflict were left hanging. Ms. Lee uses vivid images and word pictures wonderfully in this narrative but leaving the end unresolved seems to me to defeat the purpose of writing this type of novel. Despite the lack of resolution, I did find this book to be an accurate commentary on humanity and society in America. We are easily distracted and the enemy can and will use that to his advantage. I cannot recommend this as an uplifiting narrative though it does make the reader stop to consider where energies and attention are focused in our limited life-span on earth.

This book not only gets to the heart of what I often feel it reminds me that the only antidote to feeling alone, unlovable, unwanted and… is to find my answers in my Savior, Fiance, and Lord. It gives real life examples from the authors’ lives as well as other people. The Eldredges cover a lot of territory in these 200+ pages. They touch on issues of identity, Spiritual warfare, wounds from dysfunctional birth families and many other areas. This book only skims the surface in many areas as its main purpose is to help women see more clearly who God intended us to be in a general sense and for us as women to understand the role God designed men to play in our lives and us to play in theirs. I think this book could also help men to get a deeper glimpse at the things that we as women often keep buried between ourselves and hopefully God because we feel that the men just don’t get it.
Maybe they do, maybe they don’t but one of the points in the book is that we need to look to God, our Creator, for the true answer to our nagging questions regarding our worth as a man or a woman. The following quotes illustrate some of what the authors have to say on this topic.
”A man’s deepest question is, ‘Do I have what it takes?’…. A woman’s is, ‘Am I lovely?’….We can’t wait until we feel safe to love and invite…. God calls us to trust Him and offer our true selves…. He wants us to entice, allure and invite others to Jesus by reflecting his glory in our lives. He will give no guarantee that others will respond well…. God’s invitation is to bring our sorrow to Him. To keep our hearts open and alive, and find refuge and healing in His love."
This book also reminds the reader that God is ultimately the source of validation and fulfillment that we try so hard to find elsewhere. If our focus is on Him and the relationship He desires with us and built us to desire with Him then many of those feelings will be eliminated.
There is so much more to this book and it has created a hunger and thirst in me to pursue the more intimate relationship with my Lord that I have been neglecting. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly. I can’t even begin to put down here all the gems and wealth the authors have managed to fit into this short span of pages. Read Captivating to get the full picture of what these authors have to say and how it can be applied to your own life.
