Boylan hooks you into her story with a quick wit, but suddenly you realize what a truly gifted writer she is in describing her feelings and relationships. You begin to see how Boylan's MtF transgender process is effecting her wife, maybe even more by what is not spoken. You really get a sense of what her collegue/best friend goes through as he assimulates Boylan's MtF transgender process. This is probably the best autobiography I've read.

Don't let the prologue turn you off...This book is one of the best I have read describing the physical, emotional and mental effects of Testosterone in FtM.

Recommended! This is THE book to read for informative information on transgender people -- whether you are considering the trans process yourself or are in training to work with transgender people as a Gender Specialist. It is an extension of the Harry Benjamin work, starting with basic vocabulary, MTF and FTM hormone administration, surgery guidelines, therapist support tools, understanding your rights, insurance and lists of national/international organization professional support agency contact information. Invaluable.
