A literate incredible journey alone in a rowboat down the Nile River, accompanied only by the breathless reader who can't bear to put the book down, Down the Nile is a treasure. The arcane notes from long forgotten books, and vivid descriptions of Egypt's customs, history, and culture are told in a unique and often humorous voice. There's no other book like it.
