This is one of my favorite books, hands down! The book does contain a lot of graphic violence, you will get grisly details, so if that isn't something you like this one isn't for you. If the book was just violence alone I wouldn't have been interested but the storyline and character development is so compelling. It is similar in a lot of ways to Hunger Games, but I'd say it is certainly geared more towards adults.
I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the way the bits of family history fit in so well with the character's current lives. I also like the bit of mystery with the lake monster.

After reading the first book by Hays & McFall, the Cowboy and Vampire, I was very excited when Blood and Whiskey came out. I was not disappointed! I love how the authors were able to let each of their writing "voices" shine while keeping the story continuous. It's a great mixture of two stories that could easily stand alone, one of the cowboy and one of the vampire, but for me the best parts are when they are together.
There is lots to love about the book, plenty of action, sexy vampires, a blood farm and of course a loveable dog. I stayed up way too late into the night finishing this book and I highly recommend it! I hope there are more books to come!
