Night by Elie Wiesel

This is a book of some brilliance. It is terrifying in its power and the simple telling of a horror beyond most people's imagining.

The Demon Apostle (DemonWars) by R A Salvatore
The Demon Apostle (DemonWars)

Hayley Shaver, January 1, 2013

This book ends the Demon Wars trilogy written by Salvatore. This book is an excellent, fast page turner. You can't read it and then just forget it. It is almost prose like, and its issues it brings up - - loyalty to friends versus loyalty to cause, expediency versus acting on what you know is right, the thirst for power versus the thirst for happiness - - will have you thinking about this book long after you close it.

The Highwayman by R. A. Salvatore
The Highwayman

Hayley Shaver, November 30, 2012

I should have hated this book. R.A. Salvatore writes all the cliches you see in everbody else's books into his book - - the outcast turned into dashing highwayman, an underdog yearns for a beautiful woman, a mother's sacrifice for her son turns deadly, and a despot turned evil. Yet, I didn't. It is so smoothly and beautifully written, it is hard to put down. This is another score for Salvatore. Read this book, and you won't regret it.

Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat
Never Cry Wolf

Hayley Shaver, November 24, 2012

Mowat is good. This book is filled with facts about wolves, humor, and Mowat's own quirkiness. Couldn't hardly put it down.
