Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook: The Essential Guide to Caring for Everything in Your Home by Martha Stewart
Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook: The Essential Guide to Caring for Everything in Your Home

Heidi, March 9, 2008

I've read only 5 pages and can see that I must have this book. I must! (along with all the things from Emily's comment....hmmmm)
If something isn't in this book...you don't need to know it.

Despite the fact that my husband thinks Martha is hot (okay, she kind of is), I think that soon, the enticing photo of Martha armed with spray bottle and paper towels that graces the front of the tome (and it is a tome) will be peering at us from the shelf.

The other great thing? There's a lovely clear plastic dust jacket that is easily cleansed after you take this book with you on all your dirty jobs!

Geek Love by Katherine Dunn
Geek Love

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I would consider myself a poorer person had I never read it. Poignant, gritty, shocking...it keeps you wrapped up, literally making you part of it all....until the last page, and then you're crying because there is no more.

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

Heidi, April 25, 2006

By far Gregory Maguire's best work, remarkable in that it was his first novel. A imaginative take on the 'darker' side of OZ, this novel captivated me from page one all the way through page 448 and left me wanting more.
