The Complete Stories of Truman Capote by Truman Capote
The Complete Stories of Truman Capote

Himmelfarb, January 12, 2010

I encountered the work of Truman Capote when I was 14 years old and from the first short story I read - "Miriam" - I was overwhelmed, moved to tears and hooked forever. Since then (more than 30 years ago) I've read everything he ever wrote and almost all of his work is great. But his stories stand out. You can reread and reread them forever and be still enthusiastic. His prose is of rare beauty and some of his stories are so sad I still cry my eyes out. Every year around Christmas time I read "A Christmas Memoir" and it still brings a lump to my throat. Not a year goes by that I'm not mourning the early loss of this writing genius. But as long as his writings are with us, he will not be forgotten and cherished forever!
