The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Book Thief

Excellent novel that gives the perspective of a young German girl caught up in the hatred and terror of WW II. Our book club read and discussed this. One member, who grew up in the same circumstances, found it difficult to read because of the emotional resonances created by reliving her childhood. As a German speaker she also found the swearing (in German only) to be vulgar. Not being able to speak or read German, I was unaffected by this.

Useful for everyone who may ever run into a psychopath. They aren't just criminals, they infiltrate every part of society.
