A deep book with much to say for those of us seeking a more interior path to understanding Jesus in the world. At times I wished she would unpack her ideas a little more, but her re-visioning of common and somewhat scary words -- such as "repentance" -- will cheer your inner mystic.
I also particularly enjoyed the section on practice at the end of the book. This is an area where new Christian perspectives could learn from the Buddhist community. But Bourgeault does her best to introduce meditative practices coming out of the Centering Prayer movement, and show how they can help us connect with the greater wisdom. The section on the Eucharist, that ends the book, is especially moving.
