I listened to these artists more than anyone else during my formative years. I always suspected that had a big impact on my worldview (especially when it comes to men!), and reading this book helped me understand how. Despite being overlong and in need of a good copyeditor, this book will fascinate any woman born during the baby boom. And any man who wonders where we got some of our ideas...

This tenth outing for Easy Rawlins will certainly please fans of the series. It's one of the best. The great supporting characters are all there (Mouse, Jackson Blue, Jesus, Bonnie, Feather) and interesting new ones are woven in to this tale of longing and redemption. Walter Mosley is a genius.

This is a classic Ruth Rendell tale. She is a connoisseur of the banality of evil and has deft hand with a wide-ranging cast of characters. Each one is in some sense the villain of the piece, and Rendell keeps us guessing until the end.

An amazing book. The story has haunted me ever since I finished it. The characters are beautifully drawn and the tale is a fascinating one, timeless despite its near future setting.
