This is an incredibly diverse book that slides from emotion to emotion with ease. I'm an avid reader, and easily bored with bad writing, and this book rivetted me from cover to cover. I found myself giggling with her characters, feeling the pull of thier struggles, and even crying along with them over my lunch in a resturant. This book, as well as all of Leslea Newman's short story books, moved me.

Kalsched offers an understanding of how trauma (ongoing and one incident) affects a person's ability to trust his or her perception of the world and those with whom he or she is in relationship. He delves into soul wounds, not forgetting to address somatic conerns. This is the best book I have read on trauma to date.
