The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm by Nancy Farmer
The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm

Jennifer Peters, January 1, 2012

I love reading a book and feeling like I know the characters, and that they are still alive after I finish the book, because they were so real. Tendai is now one of my heroes. I feel like Arm, Ear, and Eye are so much like regular people--a little odd, a little limited, a little self-conscious, and possessing tremendous abilities and potential.

Sometimes, good vs. evil comes to the point where one must either choose to give up (submit to evil) or give up life or freedom while staying true to good. This can take place in dramatic events and in small, moment-by-moment choices. This book does both very well.

What a subtle, eye-opening commentary on society's levels--the same kind of people exist in each level; the elements of appearance just vary.

I loved and was moved by this book. I consequently read and found fascinating the author's online autobiography--what a story in itself!
I shortly after recommended both (the book and the biography) to my parents.
