The Food of Love by Anthony Capella
The Food of Love

Cyrano de Bergerac for the foodie set! I loved this book. It is full of food descriptions so rich you can almost smell them and translations of pithy Roman expressions that would make a sailor blush. This is a book that truly captures the spirit of the love of cooking and cooking as an expression of the deepest of emotions.

The Beekeeper's Pupil by Sara George
The Beekeeper's Pupil

Jennifer Wallace, August 23, 2006

This story gives a fascinating glimpse into the world of bees, as well as the newly burgeoning world of scientific observation in the 18th century. A young man, Bernens, escapes the peasant class and becomes manservant to Francois Huber, a blind man determined to continue his study of the life of bees. Bernens' role changes to that of assistant and the two work together to make a major impact on the scientific world. 'Mine was the sight, his was the vision.' A wonderful piece of historical fiction.
