This book continues with Paul Wood as the lead character on another adventure across the globe. Overall this is a great book and I throughly enjoyed it. A few of characters seem to disappear during the story; they're present but don't do much. This aside it's a great ride and I recommend it.

A fantastic journey both on and off the trail. The author's adventures had me, alternatively, laughing in stitches and deep in sadness. I felt like I was there with him; the language is incredibly vivid. The history of the trail and the people along it, is worth the cover price alone.

It took me a few stabs before I really got into the story, but once I did I couldn't put this book down. It's a complex novel with lots of characters, great descriptive language and wonderful diversions along the way. Aside from "Snow Crash," this is probably Stephenson's best work.
