The Ravenous Brain: How the New Science of Consciousness Explains Our Insatiable Search for Meaning by Daniel Bor
The Ravenous Brain: How the New Science of Consciousness Explains Our Insatiable Search for Meaning

Jim Kornell, September 15, 2012

Daniel Bor's book carries the reader through the basics and the not-so-basics of consciousness and neuroscience, human and other -- the "how does the brain do it?" question. Vivid, easy-to-read without dumbing down, thorough, and if you can't see yourself in some of his anecdotes, you're... well, probably not in fact conscious, so you wouldn't be interested in this book. For anyone else, Bor's unguarded enchantment and astonishment at what our minds do is contagious in the best way.
