How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globalization by Franklin Foer
How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globalization

Joan Elizabeth Murray, June 20, 2014

There is no better time to be reading this fascinating global view of professional and even amateur soccer. A reader will learn many unexpected things...this is like an ethnography of football clubs and their fan environments. Published in 2004, Franklin Foer, a journalist engages the question of how soccer reflects the trend to economic and cultural globalization as it crashes up against the tribal nature of football/soccer fans. Foer doesn't stick to just the famous teams and stars, he explores fascinating edges and corners of this "beautiful game"
