The Grit restaurant itself is a real vegetarian treat if you live in or are visiting Athens, Georgia. Yummy, filling food! The Grit Cookbook and its recipes live up to that dining experience, and my wife and I find this cookbook to be one we return to often.

"Annisa - Daughter of Afghanistan" is a powerful novel about an Afghan woman whose strength, passion, and beauty carries her though many adventures that test who she is. Amazingly, throughout she manages to retain her pure spirit. You believe in Annisa, you root for her, you fall in love with her. And as a added benefit, you gain a broader understanding of the realities of Afghanistan today.
